In order to ensure we are achieving the goals of this proposed project, as well as to ensure we are abiding by the specified expectations of the NSF funding, we need to conduct thorough evaluations. The evaluations we expect are:
Immediate survey. These surveys are fairly standard for all discipline-specific workshops and we want most of the questions to remain the same. However, there is a section of the survey that will include a customized list of the workshop sessions for rating. There is also space for a few questions specific to the workshop, if you have anything you would like to ask about. Please contact Betsy Bizot (CRA Surveys and Evaluation Manager, bizot@cra.org) about one month before your workshop to discuss your survey form. Conducted on-site at the end of the workshop. See the Sample Evaluation Form for an example survey.
Within one month: Within one month following the event, we ask that you write up a brief (3-5 page) report regarding the event and its perceived strengths and weaknesses. We also need this other information:
List of panelists (and whether from academia/industry)
Copy of the agenda
Website link
Additional financial support raised
Number of applicants
Number of attendees
Demographics of applicants and attendees (ugrad, grad, faculty, female, underrepresented minorities, etc.)
Number of participating institutions
When creating your application process for the workshop, please keep in mind that this data will need to be reported.
Please email this information to dsw@cra.org . We cannot reimburse any participants until we have t
his information and can verify their eligibility for NSF funding.
About one year later: Betsy Bizot (bizot@cra.org) will be contacting workshop participants to get a sense of the more lasting effects of the workshop. She uses the email addresses from the participant spreadsheet. We would appreciate if you mention to participants at the workshop that this follow-up evaluation will occur.
Please contact Betsy Bizot (CRA Surveys and Evaluations Manager) at bizot@cra.org for assistance wi
th the design and implementation of the survey instruments.
While CRA can offer assistance with preparing the surveys and event evaluations, it does not have the staff capabilities to help with any other logistical and administrative aspects of the workshop. Please note that CRA cannot create application sites, sign contracts for lodging on behalf of the sponsoring institution, notify participants of their selection, and the like.
